The acoustic power response of a loudspeaker having separated drivers is analyzed using mainly a simple monopole model. It is shown how different crossover types cause excess or suppressed power response at the crossover frequency. By proper choise of phase relationships between drivers one can achieve least coloration of the reverberant response, but at the expense of good axial behavior. A symmetrical configuration of two low-frequency drivers and one high-frequency driver is analyzed, which can provide good axial behavior, but its power response is not improved.
