The paper describes a broadcasting center in Bern, Switzerland. The three suites for digital transmission contain 16-to-2 digital mixers with comprehensive format and sampling rate converters, limiting and deemphasis processors. The whole system can be synchronized by external or internal clock at either 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz sampling rate. The system permits the transmission of digital or analog program to the digital 32 kHz PTT network. As a transition phase, the system can be used for analog transmission, while the internal operation remains in the digital domain.
