A dual-channel bitstream D/A converter is presented, which can be used in CMOS single-chip application, or in combination with a BIMOS bit-stream D/A converter. The CMOS chip contains a digital third-order noise-shaper, operating at up to 192 times over sampling. The on-chip converter performs 16-bit resolution. With the separate BIMOS converter it provides 108 dB dynamic range, resulting in true 18-bit resolution.
