Realizing an All Digital Power Amplifier

A hardware design of a pulse width modulator and noise shaper suitable for converting digital audio data directly to an analogue signal is presented. Spectral analysis is used to compare with simulation results and theoretical performance. Results suggest that the combination of oversampled noise shaping used in conjunction with pulse width modulation can provide a realisable topology for an all digital power amplifier.
