Starting from small-signal highpass models of vented boxes, it can be shown that low-frequency transient behavior can be perceptible. In particular, alignments with high-Q poles of the transfer function can lead to disturbing transient response distortion in loudspeakers at low frequencies. An acoustic comparison of model-simulated alignments of various orders demonstrates that transidne behavior can be clearly audible and that an alignment should not only be chosen from the point of view of the greatest possible linearity of the amplitude frequency response inside the passband.
