During this workshop, reference will be made to the history, function, design, and application of computer controlled sound systems for the performing arts. This preprint is intended to provide some of this information, specifically focusing on the events and rationale leading to the development of the COMMAND/CUE theater sound memory programming system and to current design concepts and implementation of such systems.
