The ability of professional quality programmable sound products and computers to communicate effectively and efficiently has been severely limited. No standard communications interface, designed exclusively for professional sound products, has been formally adopted. This paper will propose one viable means to control professional sound products using an inexpensive RS-422 communications interface and a simple device control language.
