VLSI Implementation Aspects of Low Bit Rate Codecs for High Quality Audio Channels

First work on ASIC realization of the decoder for OCF (optimum coding in the frequency domain) has been done. High quality low bit-rate coding algorithms like OCF are now ready to be integrated into professional consumer audio equipment. OCF allows coding of CD-quality signals down to 2.0 bit per sample. An OCF-decoder chip can be realized using today`s available technology.
