The authors attempted to find significant causes that contribute to differences in the subjective evaluation of a sound emitted by several loudspeakers of a particular kind. The outputs of six dynamic woofers were investigated by subjective and objective methods. In the subjective investigations the sound emitted by the loudspeakers were evaluated using a rating scale (which rates five attributes of the perception space) as well as by triadic comparisons. The objective investigations were conducted by impulse methods. Special emphasis was placed on parameters that characterize transient properties of the loudspeakers, which, in the authors` opinion, have the greatest changes of correlating with the subjective evaluation. It was found from the subjective evaluation that the sounds emitted by woofers are statistically different with respect to their sharpness. Analysis of the results of the objective evaluation of the loudspeakers indicated that the subjective evaluation of sounds is influenced by the duration of the final transients and the value of the coefficient D.
