A number of nontraditional materials are avilable for use in loudspeaker motor mechanisms. These materials can result in structures that are geometrically altered from traditional ones and may prove of value in certain applications. The use of such materials is discussed and design considerations are presented. Emphasis is given to the potential advantages to be derived in the sound-reinforcement field in both the fixed and the touring segments of the industry. Unusual matters and areas requiring special attention are also reported on.
