This paper describes instrumentation to generate and pick up sounds in the frequency range of .01 cps to 100 kc, used to obtain acoustic data for measuring air temperature at altitudes to 25 miles. They also measure the effects of acoustic ray focus conditions which cause skip zones and concentration of energy during missile tests and launching. Such measurements provide data for calculation of probable structural damage.
