Implementation of the EMC Directive in the UK

Within the United Kingdom the EMC Directive is widely regarded as the most comprehensive and complex Directives ever to originate from Brussels. Discussions on the contents of the Directive among the various trade associations, chambers of commerce and other bodies representing large industrial and commercial sectors has resulted in expressions of deep concern about the interpretations to be placed on the Directive, particularly the scope and the term -placing on the market-, plus the means of conforming to it in the time available. This is in spite of a strong measure of support for the Directive on the whole as a necessary step to combat electromagnetic interference between electrotechnical products, thereby enabling them to operate as intended, and also the need to safeguard the use of the radio spectrum.
