A Framework for the Design, Development, and Delivery of Real-Time Software-Based Sound Synthesis and Processing Algorithms

This paper describes an object-oriented framework and hardware platform for the design, development, and delivery of audio DSP algorithms. Sound designers, engineers, and composers create and manipulate audio signals by manipulating graphic modules on the computer display. Third-party developers use this framework as a rapid prototyping environment and delivery platform for their proprietary software-based sound synthesis and processing implementations.
