In binaural auralization systems, the filtering which is normally carried out by ear, head and body is carried out electronically. The filters used, are Head-related Impulse Responses (HIRs), which are time domain representations of Head-related Transfer Functions (HTFs). In a related paper, the ability to simulate free field conditions with binaural auralization is investigated. In this paper, various FIR and IIR representations of the HIRs have been compared and is finally tested in a Three-Alternative Forced Choice (3AFC) test.
