A computer-aided system for timbral ear training is being developed at McGill University. The system allows students to develop their sensitivity to timbral changes and their memory for timbre through a set of specific listening tasks of increasing complexity. The system provides an objective and effective training method for the development of listening skills that are instrumental in audio production tasks.
