Virtual reality is becoming more and more popular, thanks to the multimedia industry development. Acoustic, visual and tactile virtual environments open-up totally new approaches in mixing consoles design, particularly regarding innovative projects of control surfaces in digital audio mixing consoles. This paper describes the basic features of a virtual reality mixing console and examines the main consequences of its use, both from the manufacturer and the sound engineer point of view.
