Many horn-array design programs use the power summation method to combine the output of individual horns. This method can mask significant lobes and nulls that are due to the horns` complex directivity response and to their physical displacement in 3-dimensional space. The convolutional method yields improved predictions and does not suffer the phase measurement difficulties, database expansion, and computational intensity of the full complex data approach.
