An acoustical simulation room was designed and constructed to allow subjective judgment of room acoustical performance while in the design phase of projects. Use for acoustical measurement and research studies was also considered. The design of this room is based on a dedicated, acoustically neutral, space utilizing a multichannel loudspeaker and processor system. Described here are the theory and design considerations utilized for acoustical simulation as well as the modeling, programming, and measurements required for room soundfield simulation via this system.
