An Acoustically Transparent Screen

An acoustically transparent screen has been developed which uses a weaved knit with the permeability of air, and a coated back surface with dark-colored material. Since it has improved sound transmission efficiency over the conventional perforated screen, loudspeakers can be placed directly behind and close to the new screen without the need for equalization. The contrast ratio and viewing angle of the screen is excellent. This combination of acoustic and visual characteristics makes it very suitable for wide-screen multichannel AV applications in restricted spaces, such as home theater and front projection HDTV.
