Several perceptual measurement schemes have been presented in the past years. They all consist of an analysis filter bank and a more or less complex psychoacoustic model. Time and frequency resolution of the complete measurement system are both limited by the filter bank. In this paper, the time and frequency resolution of several filter banks are compared with the perceptual requirements. Especially, the time resolution of most perceptual measurement systems has been found to be insufficient.
