A standardized architecture, nomenclature, and programming format is proposed for music synthesis. The audio synthesis and processing normalization (ASPN) proposal defines a set of -modules- derived from basic signal generating and processing functions that have proven to be versatile and musically valuable on previous generations of synthesizers. ASPN will permit program portability and upward compatibility for future generations of software-configured synthesizers.
