There is a plethora of proprietary platforms for professional digital audio signal processing. Many are prohibitively expensive, thereby preventing the mainstream usage of digital signal processing in audio. A standardized, open-architecture system is proposed that would permit low-cost digital audio processing in a competitive, multivendor environment, and availability of a wide variety of software from third-party developers.
