Sound Radiation Analysis of Loudspeaker Systems Using Nearfield Acoustic Holography (NAH) and the Application Visualization System (AVS)

Broadband acoustic holography from intensity measurements (BAHIM) is a powerful field reconstruction technique allowing one to predict the sound radiation from a source simply by determining the nearfield complex pressure distribution on a parallel measurement plane (hologram). Fundamental wave descriptive properties of the intensity vector and the visualization capabilities of the AVS graphics software can be combined to study acoustic fields of loudspeaker systems, and completely characterize details concerning diffraction, diaphragm/port interaction, and sound propagation.
