Computer Aided Measurement and Theoretical Models of the Interaction of Musicians and Brass Instruments

The intonation error of an instrument can be obtained from the impedance curve measured with the BIAS hardware and softwaresystem. But regarding the interaction of musician and instrument, parameters like response, accuracy, and shift range are more interesting, although defined only by musicians, not by physicists. Using models based on electrical circuits, the acoustical behavior of player and instrument will be compared with measurements and the experiences of real musicians.
