For the last couple of years the radio and television world has suffered a basic and comprehensive revolution. With the introduction of digital signal processing, completely new structures and working methods have become possible in audio and video engineering. When the techniques changed in such a significant way, the acceptance test and conformance test procedures also had to be reconsidered with a new sense of standardisation and definition. The topic of this paper is the problems of quality assurance occurring during test and acceptance activities in the field of audio engineering. The effect of these problems on the tasks and the structure of the Rundfunk-Betriebstechnik in Germany, will be discussed with special reference to the experiences of the audio group.
