New Concepts for Control Data Manipulation, Storage, and Reproduction in a Modern Studio Environment

The paper discusses the state-of-the-art and future perspectives of control data handling between networked musical instruments, studio equipment, and computer-based recording and sequencing systems. The main discussion introduces ZIPI as a new interfacing standard and determines whether or not it will allow more elaborate production techniques and whether it can be used as a central means for a still compact, but more sophisticated control data storage.
