High-quality audio coding is one of the key technologies for digital broadcasting systems because it allows sufficiently low data rates for cost- and spectrum-efficient audio broadcasting in the digital domain. The paper gives an overall view of existing and emerging digital broadcasting systems, including Eureka DAB, WorldSpace, DVB, ATSC, ARIB, IBOC, and DRM.
