A Real-Time Virtual Surround Sound System with Bass Enhancement

In a typical virtual surround sound 2-speaker system, the low-frequency effect (LFE) channel goes directly to the subwoofer without additional processing. But for some systems, this may not be the optimal configuration. Often the stereo main speakers are capable of driving the deep bass effect. With such a system, it may not be necessary to have a subwoofer. In this paper, we propose three configurations that will handle bass enhancement more efficiently for different types of speakers` specification.
