The exciter component in a distributed mode loudspeaker (DML) can have a profound effect on the overall performance of the system. This paper introduces the equivalent circuit analysis of the combination of electro-dynamic exciter and distributed mode panel and discusses how exciter parameters can influence DML performance. Measurements are given which show how these influences are manifested.
