Obtaining Acoustical Comfort in a Room by Means of Acoustical Barriers Installation

Acoustical hindrance appeared in a room by inside secondary sound sources is often an annoying, undesirable, and dissatisfying factor. It mixes sounds, interferes with music, violates speech recognition, and sometimes even makes negative effects on human health. As one of the effective and chip means for reduction of harmful or simply undesirable sound signals come acoustical barriers. Barrier create an acoustical shadow behind it and allow to achieve better acoustical climate in required zones inside a room. A method of estimation of acoustical effectiveness (insertion losses) of a barrier installed in a room for big angles of diffraction (more than 60 degrees) is proposed by the authors. A wide range of experimental investigations were carried out to check the validity of the developed estimation method.
