The composite signal may be decoded in adaptor circuitry making use of sum-and-difference, or time-dimension multiplex, aspects of the signal. Background music interference reduction by decoding the composite signal with double, vestigial or single sideband circuitry requires special pre-detection and post-detection equalizers.
