Special care needs to be taken when implementing digital signal processing algorithms in the domain of fixed-point DSPs. This paper explores enhanced tone controls as an example. After studying the tradeoffs that may be made in different implementations from a mathematical standpoint, a custom graphical user interface (GUI) was developed to perform listening tests and to determine the preferred methodology.
