The audio fraternity often prefers the tube technology of old audio equipment. This preference seems to result from limitations in the conventional approach to circuit design. This paper analyzes these limitations and those of the empirical approach and proposes another design method closer to the reality of circuits and audio signals, thereby allowing the tube user to accept present-day electronic components.:
