A signal source whose impedance is represented as a capacitor can be referred to as a charge generator. This comes from the basic relationships of voltage, capacitance and electric charge. An amplifier, then, which is designed to operate from such a source can be referred to as a charge amplifier. Familiar charge generators are piezoelectric transducers and condenser microphones.
