This paper describes the design of a low-cost portable multi-function meter that operates from either an internal dry cell or the ac line. The meter features a dc amplifier that uses a FET for high input impedance and for temperature compensation. Technical details of the dc amplifier, ac metering circuit, and the power supply are discussed.
