The partitioning and simplification for integrating the CBS SQ logic separation enhancement system is discussed, with emphasis on techniques which eliminate setup adjustments. The system has been reduced to only two integrated circuits, with a minimum of external parts. One circuit contains novel 4-channel dc variable gain amplifiers to implement the logic control gain function, plus dc volume and balance controls. The other circuit uses interesting techniques in rectification, detection and automatic gain control to develop dc control signals to enhance front-back separation. The practical use of these circuits in both the normal mode and the variable blend mode will be discussed.
