The purpose of this paper is twofold. A: To point out the need of sufficient low-frequency absorption in modern music recording studios employing multiple microphone set-ups for multitrack recording and B: to describe the construction of an efficient low-frequency absorber of moderate size. The accomplishment of both purposes requires some mathematical derivations, some of which will appear in the Appendix. The results of the calculations will be utilized in the immediate discussion, however, to elucidate and to emphasize certain conditions, requirements, and findings pertaining to the acoustics of the multi-track recording studios.
