Horn Modeling with Conical and Cylindrical Transmission Line Elements

The application of transmission line element modeling to the study of horns is described. Cylindrical and conical element models, both loss-free and dissipative, are described. A comparison between these models in terms of their convergence properties and relative computation times shows that the loss-free conical element is the best element to use for typical horn modeling. Examples are given illustrating the utility of transmission line modeling by exploring the properties of horns and other acoustical systems.
