Overwrite direct recording is used in the digital audio tape recorder. The value of recording current has considerable influence on the cross interchangeability of recorded tapes. The recorded tapes need the correct value of recording current to enable better interchangeability. This paper discusses general theory for overwrite direct recording, and explains how to measure and set the recording current in direct recording.
