This paper describes a method of audio compression using entropy coded dithered quantization (FCDQ). In this method, the signal is transformed to the frequency domain, each band is pre-filtered, quantized by a dithered linear quantizer and entropy coded. At reconstruction, a post filter is used. The performances of this scheme are shown and compared to the MPEG audio algorithm.
